Suzuki will take part in the 45th edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours 2024, which will be held at the famous Japanese circuit from July 19 to 21. The GSX-R1000R chosen for the competition will be powered by 40% bio-based fuel, which will allow the GSX-R1000R to be entered in the Experimental category, where the use of fuels other than the official EWC fuel is permitted.
Suzuki, in search of a more sustainable future, has used more renewable materials for this GSX-R1000R, its JHI fairings are made from recycled carbon fiber, the Bridgestone tires were made from recycled material, the MOTUL engine oil is bio-based and the mudguard is made from a fiber of natural origin.
The team’s ultimate goal is to test these new technologies and environmentally friendly materials. As yet, the names of the three drivers who will take it to the race are unknown.
Tsuyoshi Tanaka, Executive General Manager of the Motorcycle Sector – “I believe that this initiative has a very important significance for the achievement of carbon neutrality, especially for medium and large displacement motorcycles, for which the combustion engine is still considered necessary. I can say with conviction that endurance racing, which demands both performance and endurance, is the ideal environment to test and develop not only the fuel, but also various sustainable components, and it is an activity that would revitalize the future of the motorcycle industry. This is not an isolated project, but an ongoing effort to continue pursuing higher goals in the coming years, so I ask for your full cooperation
