Prima Pramac Racing is one of several teams nearing the end of their contract with the manufacturer they supply in MotoGP – in this case, Ducati. Paolo Campinoti’s team has been the main satellite of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer, delivering strong results, so the synergies seem positive for both parties.
However, the market is rife with rumors at this time. Yamaha is looking to have a satellite team again, KTM aims to have one more to join GasGas Tech3, and Ducati, with a total of eight bikes in the paddock, has admitted that this is not an ideal situation in the long term.
On Prima Pramac’s part, team manager Gino Borsoi wants to stay with Ducati. The Italian told GPOne.com that the deal is close to being finalized, covering the period 2025/2026:
– We have an option with Ducati in our favor for the next two years, and we are very happy with them. Practically everything is already signed, we can put an end to these stories. The world would have to collapse for us to change.
The current Pramac was the result of the merger between d’Antin and Pramac, which started in MotoGP in 2002 with Japanese manufacturers – Yamaha and Honda, respectively. In 2004, d’Antin switched to Ducati, and the following year, the two teams merged as a satellite of the Italian manufacturer – a status they have maintained until now. Since 2017, they have been fielding at least one most up-to-date bike.
