Marc Márquez started the MotoGP season strong at Gresini with his new Ducati – to which he is still adapting after a decade at Repsol Honda. This weekend, the Americas GP takes place, a race he has won seven times.
The Spaniard said in a press conference that he expects many differences with the Desmosedici GP in Austin, but above all, he expects to enjoy it considering he likes the circuit:
– Let’s see. Of course it’s a completely different concept of bike and riding in a different way: Honda was super strong in that stop and go corners. As for example Álex Rins showed last year here, the bike was working well; and as me and Joan Mir showed in India more or less. Let’s see how Ducati is working here. I know it will be different, but my target is try to flow. It’s a race track that I like and when you arrive in a race track you like, at least you enjoy. So we’ll try to enjoy and then we’ll see.
That said, Márquez stressed that he doesn’t expect to win the Americas GP: ‘Of course there are two or three riders who will be super fast, they have been fast in the past years, so it will be difficult to achieve that victory. Because first of all it must arrive a better result on a Sunday race, because at the moment we are not able to even fight for the podium: we are in the top five, but the podium still didn’t arrive’.
