Aleix Espargaró has never felt as happier in his life. He was the rider himself to say so at a time his future in Aprilia or even in the MotoGP class, overall, is being debated. The ‘Captain’ of Aprilia isn’t «just» that… he sees himself in a way… as a King.
Speaking to the media in Austin, Espargaró didn’t hide his current state of joy: ‘I think that, as of the first quarter of 2024, I can tell you that I have never been happier in my life. So I’m more serene, more calm. And what will be, will be. Not worried at all. In the end you have to be serene with yourself. I’ve realised that at home I’m very lucky, and I value that a lot. So if it’s over here, I know I’ll be fine at home. And if I go fast here, I will continue; I am very happy with Aprilia, I am the king of Aprilia. So it’s just a matter of staying calm and enjoying it’.
The #41 also recalled his strong relation with some of the Aprilia most important people, with one in special in mind: ‘I have a very good relationship with Massimo [Rivola], and I think they have said that they will be the last ones to close, that they are happy with the riders they have’.
And continued: ‘But from where I took the Aprilia in 2017 to where I’ve left it in 2024; I’m still the only rider who has won three races, who has fought for the World title, who has convinced to bring a top rider… I can’t do more for Aprilia. So I deserve that respect, and I have no doubt that it’s there’.
