Raul Fernández finished the GP of the Americas in 10th position. The Spanish driver started from 13th place on the grid and managed to climb three places in the standings to score a total of 6 points for the championship.
In his debrief, the Trackhouse Racing rider spoke about the events of the race and the sensations on his bike.
– ‘I’m happy to finish my GP number 100 in the top 10. After the first three laps it was difficult to manage the race, but at least now I know that when you’re not in a good position in the first few laps it’s difficult to manage the tires until the end of the race. It was a positive race in the top 10 overall. The pace was good and I think we have to work harder in qualifying and understand what to do to be further ahead. Now, in MotoGP, if you’re not in the top five it’s very difficult to manage the race.’
The Spanish rider also spoke about his race pace and the potential Aprilia has to go even further during this MotoGP season.
– ‘I’m happy with a top ten finish, but I want more. Today I saw that the pace was there, but we have to understand what we have to do at the start of the race, we have to understand better how we have to attack and in qualifying.’
