The World Superbike Championship continues this weekend at Assen, where Michael van der Mark competes on home soil. The ROKiT BMW rider faces a special circuit, but one he also has bad memories of following last year’s serious crash. Nevertheless, his goal is naturally to step onto the podium.
The Dutch rider said in a press release: ‘It’s really nice to come to Assen, my home round, and I think that we come there at the right time. We had two very good rounds before arriving at Assen with a lot of confidence which is always nice so I’m looking forward to it’.
Van der Mark admitted that he’ll have a busy schedule, in addition to highlighting the competitiveness of his bike: ‘It will be a busy weekend for me with a lot of friends and family but it’s great. It’s only once a year so I will enjoy it and I think we’ve shown now that the base of the bike is really good and we can be really competitive’.
As for his goals, after finishing fourth in Barcelona, he aims to go further at Assen: ‘My goal for the weekend is to fight for the podiums and it would be fantastic to get on the podium at my home round’.
