Raúl Fernández began the MotoGP season with last year’s version of the Aprilia RS-GP. However, from the start, both the Noale manufacturer and Trackhouse Racing stated that the goal was for the rider to have this year’s bike – just like his teammate, Miguel Oliveira.
Now, that goal is close to being realized. Team manager Davide Brivio revealed, as cited by Crash.net, that Fernández is set to test the 2024 RS-GP on Monday: ‘We will have the test on Monday, and if everything goes well during the weekend, Raúl will have the first opportunity to briefly test the 2024 bike’.
The season didn’t start in the best way for the Spaniard, who suffered two retirements in the first two rounds. However, in the Grand Prix of the Americas, he rebounded and secured two top-ten finishes – finishing ninth in the Sprint race and tenth in the main race.
The only component of Fernández’s bike that cannot be changed is the engine, due to homologation. However, it is believed that the engine hasn’t been radically changed from last year. Apart from that, all other parts of the bike can be upgraded.
