Jorge Martín leads the MotoGP World Championship after three rounds with a 21-point gap. The season has started positively for the Prima Pramac Racing rider, but the calculations are far from being finalized: there are still 18 Grand Prix races to go, meaning 36 races in total.
Marco Melandri spoke to Motosan.es and advised the Spanish rider to keep the approach he has been using, also considering maximizing his results when victory is out of reach:
– I think Martín needs to race as he always did, always trying to achieve a victory. But as Kevin Schwantz said, you have to fight for the win when you can win and you have to race for the championship when you can’t win.
The former rider emphasized the importance of achieving the best possible result when circumstances are less favorable: ‘Many times you win the championship on a bad day because you optimize the bad day. I lost many championships because of that. But I don’t know, I think it’s too early to think about it. You have to think day by day’.
