David Alonso clinched his second consecutive pole position, this time at the Moto3 Spanish Grand Prix. The Colombian once again demonstrated his dominance at Jerez this weekend, posting the fastest time in qualifying.
The session was initially led by David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports/KTM), with a 0.143s gap over Alonso. The CFMoto Gaviota Aspar rider had been dominant in practice sessions and was a strong contender for pole position.
However, Alonso surged to the top with his second flying lap, establishing a significant lead. Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) improved to second place, but trailed Alonso by 0.467s.
Veijer briefly took the lead with another fast lap, edging Alonso by 0.197s. However, with about six minutes remaining, the session was far from decided.
In the final minute, Alonso once again dominated the timing sheets, posting a blistering lap time of 1m44.954s, leaving Veijer over a second adrift. Muñoz closed in on Alonso, but settled for second, 0.220s behind, while Veijer secured third.
Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports/KTM) claimed fourth place, set to share the second row with Ryusei Yamahaka (MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) and Ángel Piqueras (Leopard Racing/Honda).
