With less than three years remaining until the introduction of the new regulations in the MotoGP World Championship, Aleix Espargaró finds himself in the final season of his contract with Aprilia. With his future not yet defined, one of the options on the table is full-time retirement.
However, the Spanish rider made it clear that he wants to pilot the future motorcycles, regardless of the role he may have, indicating that he does not rule out being a full-time rider when the time comes:
– 100% I would like. It’s not everything on my hands, but I would love to be riding the 2027 spec bikes. I don’t know if as a permanent rider, as a test rider, I don’t know. It’s very far, 2027. But I would really like because is promising.
Throughout his career, Espargaró has played a crucial role in the development of Suzuki and Aprilia bikes, something he reflected on: ‘You know how much I enjoyed and I learned developing the Suzuki and the Aprilia. So I would love because is a big change to a factory’.
