For the second time in his career, Lucas Coenen won in the MX2 World Motocross Championship. The Belgian rider was the strongest in the MXGP of Galicia in Lugo, although he finished tied on points with Andrea Adamo.
Yesterday’s first race witnessed an intense battle until the end, in which Adamo (Red Bull KTM) came out on top. The Italian managed to surpass Kay de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna) by just 0.732s.
Liam Everts (Red Bull KTM) finished third, 8.044s behind, while Coenen (Nestaan Husqvarna) finished fourth ahead of Thibault Benistant (Monster Energy Yamaha).
The second race had a different twist, but the protagonists remained the same at the front. This time, Coenen took the lead on the first lap and led until the end, beating Everts by a comfortable 2.658s.
De Wolf took third place, reaching that position in the 13th lap after Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM) dropped down the rankings. At the same time, Adamo reached the fourth position, where he stayed. Mikkel Haarup (Monster Energy Triumph) finished fifth.
In the MXGP of Galicia MX2 classification, although Coenen and Adamo finished with the same 43 points, Coenen was declared the winner. Everts finished third, tied on points with De Wolf – both one point behind the winner, with the lowest step of the podium awarded to Everts.
