Kevin Schwantz recently attended a Suzuki event where he discussed various topics related to MotoGP and its riders. One of the riders who spoke was Pedro Acosta.
Speaking to GPOne, Schwantz praised the Spanish rider and thinks that the rookie’s performance is no surprise.
– When everyone saw Pedro Acosta at the front in the first few races, they said it was a surprise, but in reality he’s always shown all the consistency he’s capable of. Even at Le Mans, in free practice, he was immediately at the front. I think he’s a talented young driver and I consider him a friend
He added about the mentality of drivers compared to his era: ‘I already said in Austin that I think today’s drivers should learn to speak their minds more, like Acosta does, to express their emotions better. I know that when we talk about drivers we’re talking about a duel that takes place on the track, but in reality even when they leave the track this duel continues, what I would call a verbal challenge. And I don’t think he’s playing like we used to see before, everyone is too politically correct, but the level of the drivers today is certainly very high.
