The season of the World Rally Championship (WRC) did not start well for Ott Tänak. Problems and mistakes cost him dearly in the Monte Carlo and Sweden rallies, and after only two rounds he is already 27 points behind the championship leader – his Hyundai teammate, Thierry Neuville.
Not something that worries the Estonian too much at this stage, as he assured quoted by Motorsport.com: ‘No, I’m not worried about the championship. It’s not good to start the season like this, but it’s not the first time it has happened’.
About the Rally Sweden in particular, Tänak spoke about his difficulties: ‘It wasn’t good driving. It was a bit complicated, on Friday when I was feeling better, but when the grip improved, we never had a good feeling with the car. We tried to maximize it, but we definitely weren’t fast enough. At least we scored points, but overall it wasn’t a good start to the season’.
