Ai Ogura set the pace in the sole Moto2 free practice session at the Americas GP, beating the local hero, Joe Roberts, by a very slim margin.
Dennis Foggia (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) led after the initial flying laps but was overtaken by Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex). The Italian reclaimed the lead, only to be surpassed shortly after by Arón Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex). A similar scenario followed, with Diogo Moreira beating his teammate.
Then, it was Ogura’s turn (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) to set the fastest time. The Japanese rider reinforced his position but was eventually beaten by Canet, who spent the most time in first place for nearly a quarter of an hour before being overtaken by Alonso López (SpeedUp/Boscoscuro).
The Spanish rider alternated with Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) at the top of the timesheets for a few laps in the final ten minutes. However, it was ultimately Ogura who established the best time: 2m09.218s. With this, he was 61 thousandths of a second faster than Roberts. López finished third, with the top five rounded out by Celestino Vietti (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) and Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Kalex). Canet finished seventh, 0.738s behind Ogura.
