Alessandro Botturi was the winner of the seventh stage of the Africa Eco Race this Tuesday and came very close to the leadership – which has been held by Jacopo Cerutti for several days.
The Yamaha Ténéré World Raid Team rider took 4h35m20s to complete the 470.16km special with both the start and finish in Chami. He surpassed Cerutti (Aprilia Racing GCorse) by exactly two minutes, while Pol Tarres (Yamaha Ténéré World Raid Team) finished third, trailing by 12m52s. The top five also included Alessandro Ruoso (Twinsbike Racing Team/Yamaha) and Francesco Muratori (NSM Racing Team/Beta).
In the overall standings, Cerutti remains in the lead, but now Botturi is very close – just one minute away. The Italian from Yamaha overtook his teammate Tarres to regain the second position. Giovanni Gritti (RSMoto Racing Team Honda Oil) and Alexandre Vaudan (Casteu Trophy/KTM) had a more discreet stage but continue in fourth and fifth overall, respectively.
