The two-day private testing program of the World Superbike Championship in Cremona ended on Thursday, with Alex Lowes being the fastest of the day. However, he did not beat the time set by Toprak Razgatlioglu the previous day.
Only a few teams participated in this test, after others had been present a few weeks ago on the circuit that makes its debut on this year’s calendar. Lowes (Kawasaki) was the fastest on the second day, thanks to a lap time of 1m28.790s set in the final moments of Thursday’s session. He was 0.132s faster than Iker Lecuona (Team HRC), with Axel Bassani (Kawasaki) in third place.
Lowes completed the most kilometers over the two days, with 149 laps. The fastest overall was Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW), with a time of 1m28.578s set on Wednesday. Considering both days, the Turkish rider beat Lowes by 0.212s, also completing 78 laps (he did not run on Thursday).
There were also riders from the World Supersport on track, with Bahattin Sofuoglu (MV Agusta) setting the fastest time in the category on the second day ahead of teammate Marcel Schrötter. The Turkish rider also set the fastest time overall in Supersport (1m31.866s), surpassing the mark set by Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team/Ducati) on Wednesday. The Italian did not ride on the second day.
