Fourth on the third and final day of testing at Sepang, Álex Márquez was naturally happy with his time but pointed out that he still has no points in the championship.
The Spaniard began by analysing his performance on the third day, clearly in a good mood: ‘Good attack on the times but I still have zero points in the championship, so it was for nothing. It’s true that 1:56.9s is good, yes, and I’m happy, but it’s not a realistic lap time, with a lot of rubber on the track and very good weather conditions. In testing we always have to take the conclusions from the right side, and the most important thing is that today we were able to do a sprint simulation, to understand things, different configurations’.
He then revealed that he wasn’t particularly happy with some aspects of the bike, but that the most important thing was to understand them in order to find a way to resolve them: ‘I wasn’t very happy, right from the first day with the traction control on this 2023 bike, we tried a few things and realised a few things, and that’s the most positive thing, we realised a few things, in order to analyse them and arrive in Qatar better prepared’.
The overall balance was positive, he says: ‘It’s only been three days and we’re happy with the way we’ve worked’.
