Alfa Romeo has chosen the name Milano for its first fully electric Sport Urban Vehicle (SUV) in its history, which will be revealed in April of next year in Milan, and will also be available in a hybrid version.
The announcement of the name of the new Alfa Romeo SUV was made this Thursday by Jean-Philippe Imparato, CEO of the Stellantis group, who recalled that Milano is a true homage to the city where everything began on June 24, 1910.
“The Milano is the first milestone in the brand’s transition to 100% electric driving and, like the Tonale, has the important task of further strengthening the global presence of Alfa Romeo”, emphasized Jean-Philippe Imparato.
With the fully electric Milano, Alfa Romeo now has a fully electric model, although the Stellantis brand already has a plug-in hybrid version of the compact Tonale SUV in its portfolio. In addition, the new model will allow the Turin-based brand to return to the B segment, with a proposal that embodies the brand’s sporting DNA.
The new Milano will also be the last new model from Alfa Romeo to also offer a combustion engine variant, as from 2025, all new models from the brand will be exclusively electric and, from 2027, Alfa Romeo will only sell fully electric models.
