Alfa Romeo – which will be rebranded as Sauber in Formula 1 next season – has already confirmed Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas as drivers for 2024… but they won’t be the only ones. Théo Pourchaire, currently in Formula 2, is not seen as a reserve driver but as a third driver, even though he is not in the main lineup.
In a press conference transcribed on the FIA website, team representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi clarified the situation of the Frenchman within the structure for next year:
– Despite confirming our driver lineup for 2024, he will remain as one of our reserve drivers and we are now taking care of him, determining the best competition program to keep him in competitive shape. But he is part of our driver lineup. We will have three drivers next year, not two official competition drivers and one reserve.
