Álvaro Bautista is nearing the end of his contract with Aruba.it Ducati in the World Superbike Championship, but his intentions are clear: he wants to renew his contract despite having a very challenging season this year.
In addition to the dominance of Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW), the Spaniard seems to have suffered from the impact of the minimum weight rules. He is currently third in the championship with only two victories and has not managed any podium finishes in the last five races. Additionally, he is trailing his teammate, rookie Nicolò Bulega.
Despite the difficult moment – or perhaps because of it – Bautista emphasized to the championship’s official website that he wants to continue in WSBK and with Aruba.it Ducati: ‘Honestly, I want to continue. We are talking with Ducati to renew the contract. I feel it wouldn’t be fair to end my career like this. I need to enjoy the bike again; I need to feel strong on the bike’.
Although he had a tough round in Most, where he only managed to score points in the first race, the Spaniard assured that he gained important insights in the Czechia… and stressed his determination to renew: ‘After this weekend, where we have things clearer, we can start from here to improve. In the end, we are talking with Ducati to renew my contract. That’s my intention’.
