Lando Norris suffered a spectacular accident on the third lap of the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix, which led him to go through a hospital unit to rule out any injuries.
It was an incident, in a way, strange, without there being a collision or an apparent failure in the car that made him lose control. The explanation may lie in the surface of the street circuit, as explained by McLaren team manager Andrea Stella, quoted by PlanetF1.com: ‘There is a bump in that place. You can see all the cars sparking when they go over that bump. I think the combination of the bump and the cold tires may have surprised him’.
The team manager then requested that the problem be fixed for 2024: ‘I think that bump, if we continue to race at night, should be corrected because the tires will always be cold, low grip, and it becomes a very complicated turn. We already saw some cases of oversteer in that place during the weekend. So, regardless of the schedule, I would strongly recommend that this bump be smoothed out’.
