The first race in the history of the Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR) was restarted this afternoon at Misano but was marred by another serious crash. This time, Jessica Howden was involved.
The incident occurred at the exit of Turn 2 on the first lap when the Team Trasimeno rider was in the middle of the pack. The race had to be red-flagged again to provide medical assistance to Howden.
According to the official championship website, the South African rider suffered a concussion and was transported to the same hospital in Cesena where Mia Rusthen, who was injured in the initial start of the race, is being treated.
Despite the circumstances, Howden is conscious and, according to reports, is not in any life-threatening condition.
