Aprilia has unveiled its new design for the 2024 season, showcasing their ’24 house colors in an online presentation. The team from Noale revealed the modified look of their RS-GPs in Qatar, ahead of the final pre-season test at the Lusail International Circuit. Race riders Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales were present to introduce their new machines to the world.
The 2024-spec RS-GP bikes will primarily be black, with reduced red accents compared to the previous year. Purple elements have been introduced alongside the remaining red areas. The team has also made a change in the placement of their minor sponsors’ logos, opting for a horizontal arrangement instead of the vertical layout used last season. The Aprilia logo itself now features more red compared to the predominantly white branding of the previous season.
Aprilia aims to build upon their mixed results in the 2023 season, where the RS-GP showed impressive speed at times. Espargaro achieved dominant victories at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya and Silverstone, while Vinales secured three second-place finishes. However, the bike faced challenges at slower and less flowing circuits, preventing consistent competition against the leading Ducati bikes. Espargaro finished sixth in the riders’ standings, just two points ahead of Vinales. Aprilia’s strong performance led them to secure third place in the constructors’ championship, surpassing Yamaha and Honda.
During the recent test in Sepang, the team experimented with radical aerodynamic upgrades, including a unique rear device resembling the ‘batmobile’ in order to enhance rear grip.
