Arón Canet confirmed his dominance in the Qatar Moto2 Grand Prix by securing pole position this afternoon. The rider set a new lap record for the category at Losail.
Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) set the pace in Q1, advancing to the top 18 along with Albert Arenas (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex), Barry Baltus (RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP/Kalex), and Jeremy Alcoba (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team/Kalex). Filip Salac (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) finished fifth, missing out on qualifying by 0.113s.
In the initial laps of Q2, Arenas led the pack ahead of Alonso López (Sync SpeedUp/Boscoscuro). Canet, starting in third, clocked the time that gave him pole position with less than two minutes remaining. He completed the lap in 1m56.788s. López improved shortly after to take second, 0.102s behind. Arenas ended up in third place, 0.237s behind.
