In the fourth round, Fermín Aldeguer clinched his first pole position of the Moto2 season. The future MotoGP rider set the pace in qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.
The Spanish rider from Beta Tools SpeedUp was the first to set a timed lap, but was later overtaken by Jake Dixon (CFMoto Aspar/Kalex), before reclaiming the top spot. Aldeguer responded, returned to the lead, and remained there after the initial runs.
With 12 minutes gone, Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) moved to the top of the timing sheets. However, he couldn’t withstand Aldeguer’s final push, as the latter secured pole position with two fast laps.
Albert Arenas (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) took second, trailing by 0.438s, while Dixon secured third on the starting grid. The second row will be shared by González, Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex), and championship leader Sergio García (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro), who finished sixth in qualifying.
