Ayumu Sasaki is one of the current contenders in the fight for the Moto3 World Championship title and is expected to be close to securing a promotion to Moto2… but not with the Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP team he is currently part of.
According to the SPEEDWEEK.com website, team owner Petter Öttl may not have been able to convince the Japanese rider to stay, as Sasaki’s preference appears to be the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp.
It seems that Sasaki believes he will have better chances with the VR46-managed team with Yamaha’s support. Intact GP has been in Moto2 for several years and has a high budget but has only managed to secure two victories so far. On the other hand, Yamaha may have plans to include the rider in their new satellite team in MotoGP in 2025.
