The depression Ciarán is affecting the weather conditions in Portugal, and according to information from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), an aggravation of the weather conditions is expected with precipitation, wind, and strong sea turbulence.
On the road, extra caution is necessary on rainy days, which almost always cause poor visibility as well as loss of grip, factors that contribute to accidents. In this sense, the security authorities remind us of some precautions to take in these conditions:
-Avoid parking vehicles in coastal areas;
-Exercise special care when driving and staying near wooded areas, being attentive to the possibility of branches and trees falling due to stronger winds;
-Do not cross flooded areas in order to prevent the dragging of people or vehicles into holes in the pavement or open sewer boxes;
-Adapt your driving to the road conditions, visibility, vehicle condition and load, and traffic intensity,
-Increase the safety distance between vehicles;
-Reduce speed;
-Drive with low beams on.
