The four riders currently leading the MotoGP title race will compete against each other this weekend on identical bikes at the same track. The showdown will take place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on Saturday.
The competitors include Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), his teammate Enea Bastianini, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), and Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati). All four will be part of the Lenovo Race of Champions – the highlight of the World Ducati Week.
Though primarily a fun event, the format resembles a MotoGP Grand Prix: tomorrow, July 26, there will be a free practice session and qualifying, followed by the race the next day. All the riders will race with identical Panigales V4.
Currently, Bagnaia leads the MotoGP World Championship with a ten-point advantage over Martín, with Márquez trailing by 56 points. Bastianini rounds out the top four, 67 points behind the leader.
In addition to these riders, the Race of Champions will feature many other Ducati riders from both MotoGP and World Superbike, including two-time champion Álvaro Bautista, as well as the experienced and popular Andrea Iannone and Danilo Petrucci.
