Electric scooters have become a common mobility alternative in countries like India. In a country where fuel is heavily taxed and the average salary is around €10,966.92 per year, it makes sense for the population to look for accessible and affordable transportation.
In recent years, new and interesting offerings have emerged in the electric mobility space, and many of them focus on utility, functionality and affordability, while also including technological features that make these otherwise appliance-like two-wheelers feel a little more special. We’ve already seen this in new players such as Ola Electric and Ather Energy, but established players aren’t willing to be left behind either. For the year 2024, Bajaj, one of the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturers in terms of volume, has launched a long-awaited update of the Chetak electric scooter.
For 2024, the Bajaj Chetak will be offered in two variants: Premium and Urbane. Overall, the Chetak focuses on accessibility and affordability.
Bajaj has introduced a number of premium features that put the Chetak on a par with some of its competitors. For example, it gets a new five-inch TFT screen that gives it a certain modern character. On the performance side, Bajaj has increased the power to give the scooter a top speed of 73 km/h. As for range, riders don’t need to worry about running out of power when riding in the city, as the Chetak 2024 promises up to 127 km of range on a single charge. The Premium trim model also has a built-in 800 W fast charger.
Other amenities on the Bajaj Chetak 2024 include turn indicators with automatic override, left and right control switches and a handy electronic lock for added security. The under-seat storage compartment can also be reached with a switch and, by the way, Bajaj has increased the storage capacity to offer a little extra functionality for city users.
