Chinese cars are getting better quality every day, and although most of them have a unique image, many still resemble European models. The most recent case is the BAW 212, the new model from Beijing Auto Works, which was part of BAIC’s portfolio until 2020. Its new model is an SUV that looks like a mix between the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, and Land Rover Defender, and it will hit the Chinese market in the second half of the year. The brand has revealed photos of the base version, which features a large bumper, black wheel arches similar to the Jeep Wrangler, round LED headlights, and a simple grille with horizontal blades. This Chinese off-road vehicle also has a driving light on the front panel next to the driver. As for the top-of-the-line version, the BAW 212 Special Edition, it has a unique front bumper, a distinct grille, new BFGoodrich wheels and tires, a snorkel, a small hood, and painted wheel arches.
Regarding engines, the new BAW 212 comes with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 248 hp and is coupled to an 8-speed gearbox that transmits power to all four wheels. However, the Chinese brand has not revealed whether the BAW 212 will have a 100% electric version.
