After almost missing out on a MotoGP seat, Fabio Di Giannantonio found an opportunity to continue his career in 2024 with the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team. Consequently, he’ll be working alongside Valentino Rossi, whom he admires greatly, not surprisingly.
The #49 doesn’t hide the strange feeling of having an idol as a boss, stating as quoted by SPEEDWEEK.com: ‘Of course, I’ve always admired him a lot; he’s the greatest of all time. I approached Valentino’s world and VR46 with a lot of sobriety and modesty; I’ve always liked them a lot. Our relationship has always been very good and very honest, also between me and Valentino. The fact that I’m now in the team and he’s my boss is very weird, but weird in a positive way’.
Even though he continues to ride a Ducati, Di Giannantonio will have to adapt to a new team, starting with chief mechanic David Muñoz, and admitted there’s a lot of work ahead: ‘There’s certainly a lot to do; we need to get to know each other and understand how the VR46 team works. But there’s potential; the team is great, and I’m developing. So why wouldn’t it be possible to start where I left off?’.
