However, he has made it clear that his “priority” is to stay with Sauber until Audi joins Formula 1 in 2026. As a result, Hamilton has decided to activate a break clause in his contract and move to Ferrari for the upcoming season. Bottas expressed surprise at Hamilton’s decision but understands the appeal of reviving Ferrari’s fortunes. Speaking at the unveiling of Sauber’s livery for the 2024 season, Bottas acknowledged the challenge and motivation Hamilton would have in bringing Ferrari to the top.
