Brad Binder was competitive in both races of the Qatar MotoGP Grand Prix, securing two second places. However, he complained about some issues with acceleration coming out of corners after the Sprint race.
When asked if he managed to find any solutions to improve, the South African rider from Red Bull KTM stated in a press conference: ‘Of course one thing we needed to improve from Saturday for me was that I had a lot of pumping and the grip was a little bit inconsistent. Once I started to spin a little bit as I cracked the throttle and it never hooked up. It’s always really, really good for the first three laps of the race, then unfortunately it has a little bit of a slump and then stays consistent again’.
Faced with this aspect to improve, KTM made an effort, and according to Binder, the improvements in the main race were evident: ‘The guys worked really hard on the electronics, changed the set-up of the bike a little bit, and everything was a lot more under control. So we never had that big pumping. In the main race I had a little bit of those vibrations that other guys seem to have, especially as the tyre started to wear I started to get more and more of it – which I never had all the weekend, so it was a bit of a surprise. But for me it’s clear what we need to improve and I hope my guys will find something’.
