Brad Binder has been KTM’s main reference in MotoGP, especially after the farewell of Miguel Oliveira – the rider with the most victories with the manufacturer – and it seems that he doesn’t want to stop there, with Francesco Guidotti noting that the rider already had a different way of being, more mature and focused towards his goals.
The Austrian team’s Team Manager spoke about the #33, who is usually seen as a racing driver and not so much as a born developer, but that seems to be changing.
For Guidotti, there is a clear desire on Binder’s part to keep growing, so there needs to be a greater unity between rider and bike, something that is being worked on: ‘We’ve improved a lot compared to last year and this is important and also Brad’s approach has been a little different than before. Every time you put a limit, last year he was fourth, his best result ever in MotoGP for him but he wants to take a step forward and you always have to change something’.
The team and the rider, he assured, are working towards a better result: ‘The important thing is the combination between the rider’s feelings and the bike we give him. We have to find the best combination to constantly fight for the top three’.
And even Binder’s own way of being, Guidotti assures us, is different:’The mental approach, the very confidence he can have after last season. He now trusts our bike more, the people around him, and of course he has to trust himself more. It’s more than speed, he showed in the test that his approach was different’.
