Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren, expressed his satisfaction with McLaren’s lack of involvement in the 2025 Formula 1 driver market. This is due to the long-term contracts of their current drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. While there have been rumors about the future destinations of other drivers, McLaren has taken proactive steps to secure their team, eliminating any speculation. This prevented them from being considered for vacancies at Mercedes or reigniting interest from Red Bull. Brown emphasized McLaren’s stability and certainty, stating: “The F1 team, we know who our drivers are, we know who our team principal is.”
In addition to extending his own contract until 2030, Brown also secured a deal with Mercedes for McLaren to use their next-generation engine. This partnership aligns with McLaren’s goal of establishing a solid foundation for success. Currently in third place in the Constructors’ Championship, Brown emphasized the importance of stability and longevity for the team’s aspirations. He highlighted McLaren’s positive trajectory, stating: “Everything is going according to plan. We have our new technology, we have great sponsors.” In a time of uncertainty for other teams, McLaren remains confident and focused on their goals. Brown praised the entire McLaren team for their exceptional work, expressing his confidence in their abilities.
