The Kartell 500e reached nine times the normal price of the small Fiat in an auction, being sold for an incredible €254,000, roughly the cost of the Ferrari Roma, with a V8 engine producing 620 hp.
We explain: it is obviously a very special version of the Italian city car, one of three “one-off” that the brand decided to auction on December 7th, during the renowned Art Basel Miami Beach fair.
At this event, the Bulgari 500 Mai Troppo and the 500 by Giorgio Armani were also auctioned for considerable amounts, ending up being sold for €162,000 and €139,000, respectively.
Surprisingly, or maybe not, among Bulgari and Armani, the creation signed by Kartell, another iconic figure of Italian design, one of the most recognized companies in the furniture design segment, prevailed over the two heavyweights of the fashion world.
The good news is that the funds raised with this luxury trio will entirely go towards actions promoted by environmental associations.
