MotoGP is heading for significant changes in the near future and Dorna, through Carmelo Ezpeleta, admits that it is currently responding to the Motorcycle Sport Manufacturers Association (MSMA) with a view to implementing and approving new rules for the category.
The organisation’s CEO addressed the highly controversial issue to Mundo Deportivo, and explained that Dorna has even gone “beyond” what was proposed by the MSMA, as he began by explaining: ‘The MSMA made some proposals, we responded and now we’re waiting for them to tell us what they think of our proposal which was, “devices” at the front and rear, very restricted aerodynamics, even more restricted than what they asked for’.
The changes didn’t stop there, with the engine capacity, as previously confirmed, also being reduced: ‘And in terms of capacity it’s a little lower, 850cc’.
The changes are due to come into force in 2027.
