The RedBud National hosted the sixth round of the AMA Pro Motocross season last weekend. Chase Sexton (450 MX) and Chance Hymas (250 MX) celebrated their wins in Buchanan.
In the 450 MX class, Hunter Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) took the holeshot in the first race and led almost the entire distance… until he made a mistake on the penultimate lap, allowing Sexton (Red Bull KTM) to pass him. Once in the lead, Sexton didn’t waste the opportunity, winning with a 15.509s lead. Justin Cooper (Monster Energy Yamaha Star) finished third.
Jason Anderson (Monster Energy Kawasaki) grabbed the holeshot in the second race and led the first two laps until Sexton overtook him. From the third lap onwards, no one could beat Sexton, who gradually built a lead, finishing 21.179s ahead of Aaron Plessinger (Red Bull KTM), who passed Anderson on the sixth lap. Therefore, Sexton won the round with a maximum of 50 points, ten more than Plessinger and Lawrence.
As for the 250 MX, the class started with Ty Masterpool (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) grabbing the holeshot in race 1, but Chance Hymas (Team Honda HRC) overtook him on the first lap. By lap 10, Masterpool regained the lead definitively and managed to resist Haiden Deegan (Monster Energy Yamaha Star). Tom Vialle (Red Bull KTM) finished third, and Hymas ended up in fourth place.
The second race in the category was quite different. Hymas took the holeshot and led from start to finish. He had a lead of over eight seconds at one point but ended up beating Jo Shimoda (Team HRC) by 3.023s. Levi Kitchen (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) finished third, with Masterpool in fourth and Kitchen in fifth. Thus, Hymas sealed the victory in this round of 250 MX, scoring 43 points: just one more than Masterpool. Shimoda completed the podium with 39 points.
