In 2019, Jorge Lorenzo put an end to his MotoGP career after a season without any success at Repsol Honda and even with a complicated injury in between.
Throughout his career, the Mallorcan became one of the references in the paddock, winning three titles in the premier class – all with Yamaha, although he was also a factory rider for Ducati and Honda.
His father, Chicho Lorenzo, spoke to Cadena SER about the reasons why his son decided to end his career when he did: ‘Fatigue, of course, with over 30 years you already have many years on the bike because he started at three years old. Besides the fatigue, it’s because you stop doing many things that people your age do, because you have to sacrifice yourself and take care of yourself as if you were a monk. All those years wear you out. And, moreover, it’s not the same as with the bravery you have in your youth’.
