At just 23 years old, Yuki Tsunoda completed his third season in Formula 1. Although he did not match his best points record, he equaled his best ever finish by coming in 14th, but beyond that he showed more progress as a driver – in a year where he started as the most experienced driver in AlphaTauri.
Christian Klien highlighted the evolution of the Japanese driver, stating to ServusTV that he saw a maturing and a calming down of Tsunoda’s tempestuous character – even comparing the process to what was seen, once, with Max Verstappen:
– There were a lot of mistakes in the first two years. He also had a hot head. He had to calm down a bit. But we also saw that with Max Verstappen. You can say that routine is now emerging, since Yuki had a good season. Now you can also hear on the radio that he has become a little calmer, or the FIA is not showing us everything. In any case, he has matured into a good driver who can achieve good results’.
