Andrea Iannone made a strong start to the new World Superbike season. Making his debut in the championship after a four-year suspension due to a doping case, he not only achieved a podium but also started from the front row of the grid – finishing second in the Superpole.
His crew chief, Filippo Burgatti, was asked by GPOne.com about which aspect Iannone (Team GoEleven/Ducati) has improved the most as a rider. In response, the engineer stated:
– I would say qualifying, which was his weak point during the winter. Initially, it seemed that the bike wasn’t perfect, but it was. But then Andrea set a really good time, surprising me. His peculiarity requires a lot. In fact, we talk a lot. But then, more than anyone else, he understands the potential that the setup has. Andrea has a very clear idea. He might stress us a bit. He is aware of how much he can give.
