With Sergio Pérez’s results falling short of expectations at Red Bull and Daniel Ricciardo improving his performance at AlphaTauri, there has been speculation in recent weeks about a swap between the two drivers in the 2024 Formula 1 season. However, Red Bull itself has already emphasized that the Mexican will stay, and now #3 has also pointed in the same direction.
In a press conference transcribed by the FIA, the Australian reiterated his commitment to the Faenza team for 2024: ‘All things around my contract for next year are related to AlphaTauri. So, yes, I would honestly say that’s the maximum, I believe’.
According to Ricciardo, performances like the one in Mexico are a morale booster, not only for himself but also for AlphaTauri: ‘For me personally, having a weekend like Mexico is definitely good for the spirit. And also for the team, you know? I haven’t been here for long, but for them to be tenth in the constructors’ championship and gain two positions in the space of two weeks was huge. So, I think it creates a very happy environment for everyone. So, yes, I’m happy to do that. And I just try to continue to strive where I am’.
