David Alonso led the first practice session of the Moto3 Portuguese Grand Prix. After a free practice session that was of little use due to poor track conditions, the winner of the Qatar GP was the fastest in the afternoon session in Portimão.
In fact, the Colombian from CFMoto Gaviota Aspar was the only one to pass through the lead: he was the first to complete a flying lap and was never dethroned, improving his time six times until he reached a time of 1m47.202s. At one point, he had more than a second gap.
Joel Kelso (BOE Motorsports/KTM) came closest to Alonso, just 0.037s behind, while Matteo Bertelle (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) was third, 0.679s behind with a time set on his last lap. José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Riccardo Rossi (CIP Green Power/KTM) completed the top five.
