David González clinched the pole position for the European Talent Cup (ETC) in Portimão. The rider dominated Group A of the qualifying session held this Saturday at the Algarve International Circuit.
In Group A, Rémy Sanjuan (Mécaprojets Team Ado) led the first qualifying session by 0.825s ahead of Julius Frellsen (JEG Racing). Mikey Lou (Mir Racing Finetwork Team) and Evan Boxberger (JEG Take Off GP) also managed to qualify.
In Group B, the riders who directly qualified for the second session were joined by the top four from Q1: Edoardo Bertola (Eagle-1) led, beating Mathias Tamburini (Team Echovit Pasini Racing) by 0.440s, followed by Mattéo Roman (First Bike Academy) and Kiyano Veijer (Ernst Dubbi NK EV Eno Racing).
In the second qualifying session, the best lap was set in Group A. González (AC Racing Team) completed his best attempt in 1m51.468s, being 0.797s faster than Kerman Tinez (Mir Racing Finetwork Team).
Carlos Cano (Seventytwo Artbox Racing Team) will start from second on the grid, having been the fastest in Group B and missing the pole position by just 0.015s to González. Tinez will start third, with Enzo Bellon (Team Estrella Galicia 0,0) in fourth after finishing second in Group B, 0.820s behind Cano.
This Sunday, the Last Chance race will be held, where 14 riders will compete for the final two spots in the race. Portuguese rider Afonso Almeida (AGR Team), who finished fifth in Group B’s Q1, will start from pole position in the Last Chance race.
