Half an hour before the end, Marc Márquez returned to the top of the times, surpassing Rins, who had suffered a small crash minutes earlier without major consequences. The Yamaha rider was then overtaken by Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM), who was 0.104s behind Marc Marquez. With eight minutes to go, the rookie took the lead of the session, beating Marc Marquez by 0.128s. Acosta’s lead did not last long, as around six minutes later Viñales (Aprilia) took the lead and Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac/Ducati) in second. No one was able to take the lead away from Viñales until the end, but Quartararo came close and finished 0.188s behind. Morbidelli was relegated to third place, with Acosta and Martín completing the top five. The championship leader had the same time as Marc Marquez, who finished sixth.
