As much as Kawasaki is known for its performance-oriented models, it also has a range of cruiser bikes that are just as impressive. For many years, the Vulcan range has proved to be a line on which to grow, offering a variety of models with different engine capacities. The common denominator? A unique style and a touch of retro inspiration. For 2024, the Vulcan range has been given a slight update.
Let’s start with the smallest of the bunch, the Vulcan S. It shares the same structure as the rest of Kawasaki’s 650 range, especially the 649 cc twin-cylinder engine. On the Vulcan, it delivers a decent 61 hp of power and 63 Nm of torque. Kawasaki claims that the Vulcan S has a frame and suspension “derived from a superbike”, but we all know that, in reality, it’s just a steel frame with telescopic front forks and a monoshock with adjustable preload.
Next up is the Vulcan 900, which is further removed from the Vulcan S in that it resembles an American V-twin cruiser. The 2024 model still has a 903 cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected twin-cylinder engine and trades some power for extra sound and the unmistakable V-twin character. It comes in three versions, with the Classic featuring a floor protection panel and a simple cruiser look. The Classic LT has a more cushioned seat and leather bags, while the Custom has wide drag bars and an eye-catching paint job.
For those looking for an authentic cruiser experience, the Vulcan 1700 range, available in Vaquero and Voyager models, is the bike for you. The engine is a 1,700 cc twin-cylinder with fuel injection and includes features such as cruise control and K-ACT II linked brakes with ABS. The Vaquero features an exclusive fairing and a blacked-out engine, and has a SiriusXM-compatible audio system. There are also closed seat bags for greater comfort during journeys.
Meanwhile, the Vulcan 1700 Voyager is presented as the “King of Kawasaki Cruisers”, with its large fairing and travel-ready features. It has frame-mounted fairings complete with integrated luggage, as well as all the electronic features found on the Vaquero. It is available in graphite gray metallic / carbon gray metallic.
The Kawasaki 2024 Vulacn series is now available from Kawasaki dealers in the USA. More official information from the Japanese brand for the national market should be revealed soon, so stay tuned.
