The MotoGP rider market is expected to start moving early in 2024, and one of the most talented riders knocking on the door is Fermín Aldeguer. Currently impressing in Moto2, there are rumors that he may have already been signed for a Ducati satellite team in 2025.
Davide Tardozzi, team manager, denied that there is a finalized agreement but admitted, as quoted by Motosan.es, that Ducati is paying attention to the Spanish rider: ‘Aldeguer is a very interesting rider. We have been observing him for two years, like all the other factories, I believe. After the end of the 2023 season, I think everyone had an eye on him. It is clear that we have had some conversations with him, or rather, with his manager. But nothing has been decided yet’.
The Ducati official explained that the decision – in which he is not directly involved – also depends on the rider: ‘We’ll see what he wants, maybe he prefers one color or another. The decision will be his, as I said, we have a full season ahead. I don’t think he will make that decision before the first race, so I don’t know exactly because I’m not the one directly talking to his team, but rather Gigi Dall’Igna’.
Regarding the riders of the satellite teams, Tardozzi pointed to mid-year before finalizing the choices: ‘We will have to decide on the satellite teams in May or June because we will have to organize the relevant parts and everything else. It takes time to prepare everything, so the reasonable time to make decisions will be in May or June’.
