The road-going capabilities of the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports are enhanced by a new 19″ front wheel and a wider front tire, as well as greater weather protection thanks to the wider front fairing and larger windshield, and greater comfort thanks to the softer seat.
Yamaha GYTR Ténéré 700 World Raid
Yamaha’s philosophy with GYTR – Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing – is always to take the research and development work carried out by official racing teams and use it to create the highest specification performance parts available to any Yamaha owner.
GYTR parts have all been developed using racing bikes, as teams battle for victory at the highest level. And now, following the success of the Yamaha Rally Team, GYTR reaches the Adventure segment for the first time, with the launch of a dedicated range that includes performance kits for the Ténéré World Raid, with parts also available separately for the standard Ténéré 700.
Yamaha Motor Europe P&A, with Yamaha Motor Europe Research & Development, in collaboration with the Ténéré World Rally Team and its riders Pol Tarres and Alessandro Botturi, have worked meticulously to develop this exciting new range of parts, which is the result of the development of a twin-cylinder adventure bike capable of competing with and outperforming lighter 450cc prototypes.
This was recently proven at the TransAnatolia races, where the development Ténéré World Raid equipped with the full GYTR kit finished first and second in class B2.
Offering an 8.5% increase in engine performance and a chassis tuned to deliver true rally potential, the GYTR Performance Kits come in three distinct phases, which combine to create the ultimate Ténéré World Raid.
Developed to exploit the full adventure potential of the Ténéré 700 World Raid’s 689 cc CP2 engine, the GYTR Performance kit uses the original wiring harness, but adds a lightweight Akrapovič racing exhaust system built entirely from titanium.
Designed to optimize the flow of exhaust gases, the system works in conjunction with the GYTR air filter kit, consisting of a custom-made filter housing and element, and the GYTR ECU, which adjusts the ignition and fuel mapping to maximize power and torque. The GYTR performance parts combine to increase performance by up to 9 hp.
Along with the engine tuning parts, the kit also contains a rally-spec seat and footpegs kit. The one-piece GYTR Rally seat replaces the standard two-piece unit. Featuring the GYTR logo, the seat is made of grippy material for maximum control even in the toughest conditions. As standard, the Rally seat increases the seat height by 25 mm, but is designed to allow the rider to cut the foam and create a customized shape to meet their own ergonomic requirements. The Rally seat works in conjunction with the wider GYTR footpegs, which feature a highly toothed design to aid grip and an open pattern designed to reduce mud build-up in extreme conditions.
The final component of the Performance kit is a clutch cover upgrade, with a GYTR-branded aluminum split cover that allows easy access to the inner workings of the clutch for quick maintenance between rally stages.
The GYTR Performance kit has been developed for easy installation, allowing the wiring, wheels and ABS system to be retained.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
Royal Enfield, one of the main players in the medium displacement motorcycle segment (250 cm3 – 750 cm3), today unveiled the new Himalayan at the EICMA 2023 Milan Motor Show in Italy. Based on the powertrain integrated into a newer, lighter and more technologically advanced Royal Enfield vehicle, the new Himalayan uses the new Sherpa 450 liquid-cooled engine and features a host of new integrated technological features that enhance the adventure experience on your new bike. Unveiled today to global audiences, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan will be launched in India before the end of the year, and will then be available in other regions.
Royal Enfield has a long association with the Himalayas, which has been the brand’s spiritual home and creative inspiration. The original Himalayan was inspired by the 60-year tradition of exploring the Himalayas on a motorcycle, and was created in the Himalayas. A specially designed, confidence-inspiring and competent go-anywhere bike, the Himalayan has repeatedly proven its worth as the ideal motorcycle for adventure riding in these incredible mountains. It has been the bike of choice for thousands of explorers around the world who have ridden it to cross a multitude of locations and terrains, thus creating a niche subcategory of adventure that is real, sensory and accessible. The new Himalayan represents an evolution, a development of this premise, taking it to another level.
Speaking about the brand’s connection to the mountains, and the inspiration for the new Himalayan, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director, Eicher Motors Ltd. said: “At Royal Enfield, we’ve had a strong connection to the Himalayas for over 60 years, and that led us to create the first Himalayan in 2016. We had fantastic feedback for a specially designed adventure bike, and that’s what encouraged us to launch a brand new Himalayan.
This bike has been designed with the new Sherpa 450 water-cooled engine, a 6-speed gearbox and is totally suited to the Himalayas. It has a single purpose: to do incredibly well in the unpredictable terrain and weather conditions of the Himalayas.
Kove 800X PRO
At stand Q48 in Pavilion 22, KOVE held a press conference which, as at the 2022 edition, surprised the motorcycle world with its products and generated great anticipation with these three new features, as well as other marketing data.
The new version of this 800 cc maxitrail, which reaches 71 kW at 9000 rpm, with a 20 liter fuel tank, allows the center of gravity to be lowered and makes it easier to move the handlebars. What’s more, it uses aerospace-grade magnesium and aluminum in some of its components to reduce its weight to just 185 kg with fuel. It also improves its off-road capabilities, with long-travel suspension and a ground clearance of 275 mm.
Voge DSX900X
VOGE is presenting the definitive version of the model we saw at EICMA 2022.
Compared to the model we saw last year at EICMA 2022, we don’t notice any particular differences. The styling is that of the modern Maxi Enduro: sleek lines, a pointed front and, for the two-cylinder off-roader, a 21″ wheel.
A very ambitious project for Voge, to compete with the most iconic European and Japanese models, the equipment must be complete and the engine must excite. The DS900X has a 4-stroke twin-cylinder engine capable of delivering 93.8 hp at 8250 rpm and 95 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. The data sheet indicates a top speed of 200 km/h.
As well as a good engine, the DS900X is equipped with a remarkable electronic package: electronic throttle, cruise control, Quickshifter electronic gearbox, ABS and four driving modes. The suspension has a long travel and is adjustable, so it can also handle rough terrain and more demanding passages. At the front, there’s a 21-inch spoked rim on which a 90/90 tire is mounted. At the rear, a 150/70 on a 17″ rim. The new Adventure is geared towards travel and seems to be packed with options. Among the many options are a heated seat and grips.
Unfortunately, we don’t yet know at what price the DS900X will be sold. If it manages to position itself well on the market, can it intimidate the more iconic Maxi Enduros?

MV Agusta LXP Orioli
The LXP Orioli, as the name suggests, is a tribute to the legend Edi Orioli, who has always been a man very close to the Varese-based company and who will sign one by one all 500 copies of this first limited edition.
A new three-cylinder with plenty of torque
The engine is a new 931 cc three-cylinder, developed entirely in Varese. Development was driven by the destiny of a model like the LXP Orioli, which must be both excellent in terms of performance and suitable for very different riding contexts. The new three-cylinder is powerful, rich in torque, versatile in delivery and particularly light at just 57 kg, an average of 10% less than the direct competition. In its standard version, the engine has 124 hp at 10,000 rpm and 102 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm; the specific power is 133 hp/liter and 85% of the torque is only available at 3,000 rpm.
The latest electronics
The LXP Orioli can count on a particularly advanced 6-axis inertial platform that interacts with the on-board electronics, consisting of the engine management unit equipped with a high-frequency microprocessor. Full Ride by Wire is based on torque management strategies; the available maps are Urban, Touring, Off-Road and Custom All-Terrain, specially developed to guarantee the correct delivery and the ideal electronic control settings in the different action contexts. The traction control, which can be switched off, has 5 levels of intervention for road use, 2 developed for off-road use and a Rain mode to guarantee maximum safety even in adverse driving conditions.
As well as offering great safety when cornering, the cornering ABS also includes RLM (Rear Wheel Lift-Up Mitigation) functionality, and has a unique strategy in its class, as well as others specifically dedicated to off-road use, including the option to turn it off completely or only on the rear wheel.
Maximum technology also goes into the throttle control which, as in the entire three-cylinder range, has a negative stroke, important for increasing feel and for smoothly managing the cruise control release. The latter can be set to increase or decrease speed by 1 km/h or 5 km/h at a time. The key management system is completely keyless.
In terms of quality and finish, the instrumentation is inspired by the world of luxury cars, thanks to the extensive connection possibilities via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the HD resolution of the 7-inch color TFT panel and the adjustable brightness. Two graphics are available, which can be chosen according to the user’s taste. The MV Ride application, common to the entire range, allows users to connect a smartphone, configure turn-by-turn navigation, save routes and driving data and share them in the community with other users. What’s more, thanks to the MV RideApp, users can configure their LXP Orioli via their smartphone, even before starting the engine. The Mobisat anti-theft device with integrated geolocation is part of the LXP Orioli’s standard equipment.
Also standard on the LXP Orioli is the all-LED front and rear lighting system, which guarantees perfect visibility in all light conditions. To further enhance the user experience, the controls on the handlebars are LED backlit.
The frame of the LXP Orioli is a “perimeter” type frame, made of light alloy due to the optimization of thicknesses, with a removable rear frame; the design is a closed double cradle, with optimized stiffness values to offer the ideal balance in different situations, such as touring road use and pure off-road use. The Sachs fork is adjustable in all functions: compression, extension and spring preload, with a wheel travel of 210 mm; the adjustable Sachs monoshock provides 210 mm of wheel travel and is connected to the suspension via a progressive link.
The seat is height-adjustable in two positions (850 mm and 870 mm) to suit different contexts and riders. The shape and material of the upholstery have been developed to ensure comfort and support, both on and off the road. Thanks to advanced manufacturing techniques, the outer shell guarantees comfort, durability and waterproofing in the most extreme driving conditions.
The ground clearance is an impressive 230 mm, ideal for tackling the pitfalls of off-road driving. The wheelbase is 1610 mm; the wheel diameter is typical of off-road enduros, with a 21″ front wheel and an 18″ rear wheel. The bike is approved for use with road tires and Bridgestone. The brakes are supplied by Brembo, with Stylema calipers at the front with 320 mm diameter discs and two-piston calipers with 265 mm discs at the rear.
The development of aerodynamics has created a calm zone around the driver and passenger that protects them from uncomfortable turbulence, making driving even more comfortable. Ergonomics has been at the heart of the LXP project from the outset: the contact points (footpegs, handlebars and seat) have been designed with the aim of offering all the comfort needed for long-distance journeys for the rider and passenger, even with luggage, and guaranteeing the off-road efficiency needed to control the bike in the most critical situations, where the knees contribute to perfect control of the vehicle.
Moto Guzzi Stelvio
The Stelvio is equipped with the new engine that has just been introduced on the V100 Mandello and which has been refined, a cutting-edge engine in terms of design and construction, compact and lightweight.
It is a two-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with four valves per cylinder. The six-speed gearbox has been updated to be smoother and more flexible when shifting. Maximum power is 115 hp at 8,700 rpm, while maximum torque is 105 Nm at 6,750 rpm, with 82% available from 3,500 and the limiter set at 9,500.
The chassis features a high-strength tubular steel frame, coupled with 19-inch spoked wheels at the front and 17 at the rear and a long-travel suspension, options that make riding comfortable on journeys and fun on light off-road and asphalt riding.
The Stelvio is the first Moto Guzzi available with the PFF Rider Assistance solution. The rider assistance platform is based on radar technology developed by Piaggio Fast Forward, the Boston-based robotics specialist founded by the Piaggio Group. These devices play a key role on the active safety front, providing Following Cruise Control (an advanced cruise control system that uses forward radar to adjust the speed according to that of the vehicle in front), Forward Collision Warning (detects possible collisions with vehicles and objects ahead), the Blind Spot Information System (warns the driver of the presence of vehicles in the blind spot of the rear-view mirrors) and the Lane Change Decision Aid System (detects vehicles approaching from the side, creating a potentially dangerous situation).
The electronic equipment is completed by the Ride by Wire electronic throttle, the six-axis platform that manages the electronic safety controls, such as ABS Cornerin).
There are five driving modes: Touring, Rain, Street, Sport and Off-Road, which manage the actions of the engine brake, ABS, traction control and engine map. In Off-Road mode, both ABS and traction control can be excluded.
CFMOTO MT-X Concept
CFMOTO launched some interesting new models at EICMA 2023, but one that stands out especially for adventure lovers is the MT-X Concept. Clearly inspired by the growing adventure segment, the CFMOTO MT-X Concept is all about off-road performance mixed with high-end technology.
Since the MT-X Concept is just that, a concept, CFMOTO has intentionally left a lot of information open when it comes to its specification list. The biggest mystery of all is the engine that will power this robust machine, however, judging by the images, we can deduce that it’s probably an iteration of the 800cc engine found in the 800MT, which subsequently uses KTM’s technology in the LC8c twin-cylinder engine. If this is the case, it’s likely to produce close to 100 hp, which puts it in the same range as the KTM 890 Adventure and the BMW F 900 GS.
As for the details we know, it’s clear that CFMOTO is betting heavily on the brand’s adventure DNA, particularly that associated with the MT range. The MT-X concept features a robust fairing, inspired by rally models, and a dashboard that closely resembles the 800MT adventure bike. It also has a 21-inch front wheel and very high ground clearance due to the increased suspension travel. As far as technology is concerned, the CFMOTO MT-X Concept gets a full-LED headlight and an eight-inch TFT touchscreen inspired by the navigation towers on rally bikes, for a more realistic, race-inspired experience.
In addition to all this information, we’re left wondering what the new CFMOTO MT-X Concept has to offer. What we do know is that the bike seems to perform well off-road. At the press conference, the CFMOTO spokesperson said that the bike will be “available very soon”, so we’ll have to wait and see if more details are available.
