In recent years, many new and interesting electric motorcycles have appeared and, although many of them focus on daily commuting and utilitarian applications, a good number of them concentrate on preserving the thrill and excitement of the two-wheeled lifestyle. Many of them are specific off-road models, such as those from the French company Electric Motion.
We’ve talked about Electric Motion a few times in the past, and the brand has made a lot of progress, particularly on the off-road motorsport scene. In particular, it has competed in the FIM E-Xplorer, achieving notable podium results and even a championship title. In 2022, it was also the first electric manufacturer to compete in the Scottish Six Days Trial. This success has accompanied the expansion of the brand, which is due to open its new factory in the south of France in January 2024.
With this in mind, Electric Motion presented its latest model, the Escape X, an electric endurance bike that is designed to explore uncharted territory. According to the company, the new model is ideal for beginners and intermediate riders, providing a lightweight, off-road-oriented platform with a light and durable construction. It is available in two versions – X and XR – and is quite powerful.
In terms of performance, the Electric Motion Escape X is equipped with a mid-mounted electric motor with a rated output of six kilowatts, reaching a maximum of 11 kilowatts, or around 15 hp of power. The Escape XR goes a little further, with a maximum output of 12 kilowatts, or around 16 hp. Electric Motion also equips the enduro bike with a series of performance-focused basics, such as 35-millimeter inverted front forks that give the bike an impressive 250 millimeters of travel. As for the battery, the Escape X has a 50.4 volt unit with a capacity of 3500 watt-hours and a duration of 1000 charge cycles.
Given all the performance of the Escape series of electric off-road bikes, Electric Motion has made sure to include technological and safety features to keep it accessible to riders from different backgrounds. It is equipped with a traction control system, as well as a progressive regenerative braking system to optimize control and autonomy. It also has an anti-reversal function that makes it more capable of tackling technical inclines. Finally, the rider can monitor all the bike’s vital statistics via a color TFT display.
At the time of writing, information on prices and availability of the new Electric Motion Escape X has not yet been released. However, you can find out more about the bike, as well as see the full and detailed specifications, on the official Electric Motion website.
