A few weeks before the Rally Sweden, the second round of the World Rally Championship (WRC), Elfyn Evans won the Arctic Lapland Rally over the weekend. Kalle Rovanperä also participated in this Finnish event.
On board his usual Toyota GR Yaris Rally1, the British driver was constantly in the shadow of his teammate Rovanperä, winning only three of the 12 stages.
When everything pointed to a home victory for Rovanperä, the Finnish driver suffered a car failure in the last stage. Evans took advantage, was the fastest in the stage, and inherited the lead to win the rally. He finished 5m02.3s ahead of Mikko Heikkilä. The podium was completed by Teemu Asunmaa.
